I know that the sunroof can jam, but mine has an odd thing going on. It will tilt fine, but when I open it (backwards) it starts to open and then theres a lound thump . It didnt stop working, but I hurridly shut it again. Is it done for, or does something need greasing?

Mine seems to do this also, its not really a loud thump but its seems to make a thump as it goes under the metal part of the roof. I oiled my runners, put a new motor in and put silicone grease on the back of the sunroof where it goes under the metal and it still does it. More experienced Scorpio members maybe able to help more, but I've learned to live with it and I open it on a regular basis.

is the seal proud on the back edge of your sunroof? if so lift it up a little and have a look underneith for rust, this could be all it is, a proud seal.

Well I guess I prefer the proud seal theory over rust ....

That's what it is, A proud seal at the rear caused by rust under it, If you stand so you can see the roof while reaching inside to open it, you will see that when you open the roof it will catch on the rear edge, This will then cause the roof to drum causing the loud thump. Had the same on the saloon and there was quite a bit of rust on the rear edge.
