To refix the mirror do you need new sticky pads or does the old go back as it came out please.

The mirror should just slide back into the mount that the old one came out of. If the mount is no longer fixed to the screen, then it will need a new sticky pad  Smiley

The Ford guy I spoke to said most mirror mounts are now located in a black area on the screen...mine is....and it is this which stops the adhesive pads from degrading in the sunlight. I've just fitted a second mirror in my wife's car and managed to get it located so that the mount was in the shaded area at the top of the screen. If the mount is on the screen already then the answer is simple, slot it back on.

The electrical connection is apparently located behind the electric roof switch panel....presumably this is accessed via the interior light lens??

Yep, you have to remove the interior light & then undo the 2 screws that hold the panel up so you can get the multiplug through  Smiley

might be worth putting a splodge of glue on the slide up part on the mirror, as they slide from bottom upwards they don't always hold with the same strength as the original.

I know one that will never go back together. test driving a cosworth scorpio, the mirror was stiff, I pushed it to adjust it, it was not moving, I pushed harder, still no movement, increasing the force, immensely, aha, then it moved, SNAP! oh I see the metal is now broke. Oh well.

Joe. The answer is to give it a steady tug downwards keeping in line with the slope of the screen. DO NOT try to lever it away from the screen towards the interior of the car or you'll likely break the screen. Obviously try on the scrap car first!. You'll need to remove the interior light unit which just clips in so will easily prise out in order to access the electrical connector which you can then ease out from under the headlining Wink THIS might help BUT be sure to heed the warning as I said earlier.

A couple of very light taps with a small hammer ( towards the front of the screen) on the mirrir mounting might just break the seal... BUT be very careful it is possible to crack the screen if you apply too much strain on the unit.
