fuse 14 central fuse box

Hi Everyone Problem i have is that no.14 fuse (brake lights and indicators)in the central fuse box keeps blowing.Fuse box is dry and i have not messed with the electrics in anyway. Can anyone please help as i have not got a clue what is wrong. Many thanks Andy

hi there is it a saloon? if so, check the wiring running into the boot lid. should be under a plastic cover on the hinge. hth

Hi Scorpio_man Yes it is a saloon. Forgot to mention that the fuse will sometimes last 10 minutes or will blow straight away. Thank you for your reply Andy

hi there the only things i can think of are... correct wattage of bulbs. wiring at the back of the ashtray (if you use it a lot). faulty brake switch (at your foot). hth

Brake light wiring does'nt go via boot hinge,thats for boot light bar.It goes down through back rear corner of boot.Have you had the bulb holders out to check em?If fuse blows without using brakes,you can knock that idea on the head anyway! Helpful aint I ! GOZZ

If the same fuse covers the indicators as well, then it has to worth checking the flasher unit which is under the steering column cover, the other way of checking which art of the circuit it could be is remove all the bulbs for the brake lights and indicators and replace them one at a time and see how you get on .... if it lasts that long....
