Hi scorpio_man I have had a read of that material but I still don't know where the timing chain tensioner is located ~ I need to ascertain quickly if I can just change the tesioners without going thro the throes of a major chain replacement job  Huh

Looking at the youtube BOA engine reassembly it looks quite straight forward as a bolt on! but I have yet to locate it anywhere here so I can make a decision to go ahead or not Huh

Have a look at  THIS

Seek a point at 2m:13 secs into the film where you will see the single tensioner very clearly. I am aware that the BOA has a single duplex chain. but after reading the items I still cannot say positively where the tensioners are located on the BOB engine.

BOB engine has 2 tensioners, the second is in the L/H in the V (R/H head looking at the front) you need the coolant manifold off for access. he's a brave man doing that job withths sump on.

Are you trying to locate the tensioners with the timing cover still on?

Yeah, I am just trying to assess the job so I need to know where said tensioners are located in order for me to make a decision on exactly what is in volved with the BOB engine. And more importantly if I can do the job myself.
On the BOA the task doesn't look too daunting at all.

It should be - I'm just trying to work out what stuff you might have in the way.

I can't say much more than everyon else really - the tensioners should be on the side of the heads, near the front with one "in the V" of the engine.
