Keeps blowing fuses!

My 16v keeps blowing the ignition lock fuse. It's done it three times during the last week and two of the times while driving. Any ideas of what may cause this?

Yes, fuse 13 and it's the correct rating. I'll check R21. Thanks Edit: R21 looked clean, no corrosion or signs of dampness.

Hm. Now it did it again, even after I removed every single piece of aftermarket electronics that is connected to this circuit. Do anyone have a list of what's connected to this circuit (fuse 13, ignition lock)?

One small update: I towed the scorp back home tonight,. I tried turning on the parking lights but after a couple of seconds, all lights on the car died. No tail lights, no parking lights. Hazards still work though. So now I have no power to the ignition and no power to the light switch. I tried checking all light related fuses, but couldn't find one blown (that doesn't mean I didn't miss one though). I'm starting to suspect one of the light circuits (either parking lights or tail lights). Remember that this is a scandinavian car with daylight running lights, so parking lights, dipped beam and tail lights come on with the ignition. I also have a tow bar fitted which could be a source of problems. Any comments or ideas? Edit: I'm thinking it's a short in one of the following: Light switch, tow bar connector, parking light wiring, tail light wiring or lisence plate lights.

Check th cig lighter connection and the boot lid hinges for damage/shorting and also the towbar connections if fitted. I would also check the fuse boxes light switches and wireing wherever possible... hth Pete

Isn't the cig lighter on a separate circuit? But the boot lid hinges is a good tip. I will check that. Thanks

@peteHull: Seems like you could be right about the cigar lighter. My multimeter jumped from 4A to 20A+ when wiggling the socket. I removed the cig lighter fuse and that seemed to do the trick for now. Now, can anyone explain to me how the cig lighter and exterior light switch is connected to each other? Oh, and why would fuse F28 (Electrically operated sunroof, electrically operated rear windows) be in place when my car has neither sunroof or electric rear windows

The cigar lighter is LIVE all the time and if the metal ashtray shorts it out then the whole system becomes live . Well thats what we have found out over the years . It is ALWAYS worth checking that out before anything else..... Glad you found it .

It blew the fuse again today So it probably wasn't the cig lighter. Now I'm really puzzled The problem is that it's an intermittant fault that disappears just as fast as it appears.
