Outside temp warning ?

Hi all First post for me so please bear with me Ihave just bought a ultima estate 2.9 12v and have a problem with the outside temp warning after starting out on a drive no matter what the temp outside is the little red ice sign in the aux warning panel comes on and does not go off ?? is it the same sensor as used in the mk2 mondeo also where on the scorpio is it located . thanks in advance for the help regards Adam

It is a small oblong object, fitted with a flat spring clip and is located under the front bumper/fron cross member. It just unclips, then unplugs. Unplugging and reconnecting might fix it, the connections are prone to oxidation down there. Are you saying that the only problem is the ice warning? That (red), plus the ice pre-warning (orange) and out door temperature display is operated from the above sensor - so if one is wrong, they should all be wrong if it is the sensor.

Thanks for the replies all found the sensor very sad state and the as fore the dash read out it seems to think it is -40 out side . I will get another one from that well known auction site and try it

Actually...before you get a new sensor...try cleaning up the contacts on the old one. You may get it down to -39C I don't suppose you live in Reykjavik?
