Air Con Problems

I had numerous problems with my old Ultima with the air con module so the first thing I tested on my current one when I bought it was the re-set function, which worked fine. Yesterday morning I noticed that two dots had appeared in the passenger side display and when I came to run the reset procedure I noticed that the settings on the control module had altered. I have always used it in the auto position but what has happened for some reason is that the auto position is now “off” and the “off” position appears to be “auto”. Additionally the reset function does not work, turning both dials to the far left position and pressing both the air con and recirculate buttons simply switches the air con and recirculate functions on and off and does not force the system into the reset mode. I wonder if disconnecting the battery for a while might help, but any advice would be appreciated. Ian Wallace

Shouldn't hurt! May also be worth making sure the ribbon cable behind the control panel is connected okay. I did have to replace the control module on mine a while back because I was getting some strange things happening

Try to put the dial in Auto position (you said is now off instead) then press and hold AC and Recirculated Air buttons for about 10 seconds. It should go into reset mode. Now put the knob in the OFF position (real position, dial to far left) and hold the buttons again until the reset process completes. Now the module should have learned the correct start values of the dials. If you can't do the reset in the way described above, try to remove and refit relay 24. That helped another member from here in a similar situation.
