airbag light

My Airbag light seems to flicker now and then, especially when going over bumps in the road. Most of the time, it goes out after starting, but then flickers on and off after a few miles. Sometimes it stays off altogether and all seems well. Is this a loose connection somewhere? If so, where would be the best place to start looking? Thanks. Dan.

Yes, it's a common fault, a small plug in the steering wheel loses contact. You need to open the steering wheel and check the small yellow plug that goes to the middle cushion. Also take care with the "clock spring mechanism". To open the steering wheel you need to unwind two screws that hold the cushion. WARNING disconnect the battery for at least 15 minutes before doing work or interfering with the airbag electronics as they may go of and cause serious injury ! As a bonus HERE is the full procedure

Hi dad another possible cause is the airbag lead to the seatbelt pretensioner its under the drivers seat.If you operate your seat a lot it loosens the connecter. Fisherman.
