Interior lights staying on?

Just a quickie if anyone has any ideas. My interior light is staying on sometimes, its not on all the time and seems to be pretty random. I've cleaned up the door switches but its made no difference. I've had to take the fuse out for the moment to stop the battery going flat. I know I can switch off the roof lights but the puddle lights and footweel lights still stay on. I'm baffled any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks Danny.

I've had 'imposible' probs with the electrics before. Then one day I had to disconnect the battery for an hour or so put it all back and hey presto both probs gone, admittedly they were heater motor not working and parking light not working. Somehow it reset after putting the battery back. If you do try it expect the engine to play up slightly for about 5 miles. Mine did but it wasn't a problem.

Hi Danny, I'm having trouble getting the wiring diagrams up at this end at the moment so can't really help, but Gozz could be right about sticking timer relay, worth checking. Presuming the wiring goes back into the fusebox somewhere, you might have the common connector problems in there, lots of posts about this problem recently. IIRC, the door plunger switches make contact with earth when the door is open (remember cleaning mine, had the opposite problem), so any short to earth could cause the lights to stay on. Is this any door or just one which does it? Regards, Bruce.

Thanks for your replies I will check it over when I get the chance and report back. It is usually the drivers door so thats my first port of call really with the earth problem/ relay if the disconnecting idea doesn't work. Thanks again.
