hi
after all the trouble im having with my cosworth i have bought a second hand engine and box with waterpump and engine loom still attached what i would like to know is would it be easier to just swap the loom and waterpump or would it be easier just to take the old engine out and do a straight swap how difficult an operation would this be and what sort of time would it take.
my present engine is just coming up to 150000 miles the
engine i have bought has just 90000 on the clock the loom is sound as is the waterpump i actually drove the car the engine is coming from and if it wasnt for damage to the body i would probably have bought the whole car dont know if it was a good deal but i got the engine box waterpump and loom for 500 quid.
there is nothing wrong with my present engine when the loom and waterpump allow it to work but im thinking of the extra 60000 miles i would gain from putting the other engine in i have the use of a hoist but only for sat and sunday this week would it be possible to do it in this time frame and would the engine need to be separated from the box to get it in or would it go in in one piece
regards
mark

it would be easier and safer (loom wise) to swap the engine and box

the engine and gear box all sit on a subfame along with the suspension and steering rack, the subframe is held on with 4 large bolts, all you would have to do is disconnect the piping and loom, drop the 4 bolts out, take off the rear gear box mount and uncouple the prop, steering rack from the colum shaft, suspension top mounts and exhaust, the whole lot can then be lowered down
