Thats low. Mine returns about 26 mpg urban and 34+ mpg on a motorway run. It sounds like there may be a problem somewhere. I'd start with a full service including the fuel filter - was amazed the difference it made to mine. Next along, check for leaks, clean the MAF, etc etc

You should be getting a better mpg than that. Mine is anywhere between 23 around town to about 33 on a run. A good service always helps, but a very low fuel consumption like yours is probably due to something else. Although spark plugs that have gone past their best can reduce fuel consumption & power considerably. First thing I'd do, would be to disconnect the battery for about 30 mins to reset the engine management back to factory settings, then check for any fuel leaks or binding brakes, & check the condition of the spark plugs. If this doesn't work, then you really need to get the car scanned, as you may have a problem with one or more of the engine sensors. Possibly lambda, MAF or ECT sensors etc Other considerations may be faulty/leaking injectors or faulty fuel pressure regulator. Also, do you use the air con much ?.....If so, then switch it off & see how much the mpg improves. Air con usually increases fuel consumption by about 2 mpg Hope this helps

hi there i get 19mpg in town driving (ave 20mph) with a/c on all the time. remember that you need the ave mph figure as well as the mpg as that gives you a better indication of how your car is running. hth

I get around 23 - 24 mpg in normal mixed driving, upto 32 - 33 mpg on a long run - mine is an auto. A/C is on all the time. Suggest you get an OBD scan done to see if anything shows up. What area are you in ?

Are you working out the mpg properly or are you going by the reading on the cars computer? (which may be needing reset)
