I think the noise is down to the tensioner on the timing belt. Anyone know how easy it is to change?

The 2.3 is chain driven & although I've never replaced the timing chain or tensioner (yet ), it deffinately doesn't look like a job for the faint hearted...... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/engines/dohc2_3/2300TimingCh.pdf First thing to try would be an oil change using a good engine flush like Wynns to make sure all the old oil, sludge & deposits are removed from the engine & then refill with 5W30 semi synthetic or fully synthetic oil......This may quieten the noise down ......
