Got a quote from FPUK for front drivebelt at £29.27+vat, this seems expensive for a length of rubber, is there any where else i could try, car is 2.3 16v estate,cheers,phil.

you could try halfords, etc, but it's a fair old lump of rubber and does an important job. Undecided
 
remember it runs the alternator and water pump. not things i'd like to leave to chance.

ok ,just that my ancient jewish blood baulked at that much money for a piece of rubber! fantastic engine tho. only had it a month, never heard anything so quiet and smooth, totally different drive to the diesel scorpio i still have on the drive.phil.

I got one from Halfords for about £6 or £8 just to keep in the car as a spare.
Of course it will now never break but if I didn't have a spare you can bet it would...

Whatever the persuasion a rip off is undesirable ! Could you find a local motor factor,or even one of those Asian motor stores(a different persuasion) ! They are always nearer the real world than a main dealer.

I've had a Halfords one on for a couple of years without problem, but you'll need to make sure it's the right length (I believe there's more than one size).
