On the trip computer switch (mounted at bottom of dash to the right of steering wheel) press 'S'. This should change it from metric to imperial  Smiley

If it doesn't then the switch may need cleaning with some switch cleaner  Wink

tried all that jazz.holding mode for 10 secs, both R&S for 10 secs and even all three for 10 secs.i wonder if its something to do with the new battery, the mode button works changing o/s temp, next refuel etc.i just dont want to be driving along dividing 247km by eight and multipling it by five to get the miles.
any advice would be welcome
ps the R and S buttons dont change anything on the dash.seem not to work.
thanks again

These buttons work by a resistance value so dirty contacts can make a difference, hence R&S together sometimes gives the right resistance.

Have a look here:
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/instreset.htm

Item 12 in the table at the bottom of the page shows the value you should get in the diagnostics when the buttons are pressed.

Giving the trip comp switch a quick hefty whack (once or twice) from underneath seems to make it work....but only temporarily  Roll Eyes

If you prise it out from its location and check that the plug is on correctly and perhaps give the whole thing a quick dose of switch cleaner things might improve.
I only had to press one ( s) on mine after cleaning it up . only did it once .
