pressed eject on the head unit to eject tape, tape lifted up slightly but then stopped. so i was stuck with the tape in fully and down half way. i managed to get it out but now it's stopped working totally!
and when i turn the head unit off the back light stays on. even when the car is off, locked etc its still stays on!

anyone any ideas? ive actually bought a replacement 7000 in silver (from a puma) so not TOO concerned but would be insterested to know why it's done it Sad

i managed to fix it. for searching references:

tape mechanism was stuck half way between open and closed with the metal teeth in the wrong postion. headunit was either open circuit or i suspect constantly trying to eject the tape. forced the tape mechanism up with the teeth in correct position and it now turns off.
spent the week in York not using the car and the head unit totally drained my battery so it had to be fixed. bought a replacement from ebay which turned out to be faulty.
