Starting problem

I have a 2.9 i Ghia from 1997 with a starting problem.

This is what i've done / checked:
- checked fuel switch in the back of the car (ok)
- checked bobine
- checked timing
- fuel (ok)
- new battery
- new sparcksplugs
- new airfilter

I think there is a problem with the key or mapcomputer or something like that, because it looks like the car is wanting to start, but won't. To compare, try to start a motorbike with the killswitch in the OFF stand.
Who can help me?
Thanks

Test for fuel or spark:-

Remove no.1 spark plug, put the lead back on and hold it against the block with insulated grips - do you get a spark?  If so, then:-

Put your nose to the no.1 plug hole when cranking - can you smell fuel?

Also, does the rev counter show about 300pm when cranking?

is it a 12v or 24v?

Does it just crank or does it try to fire up at all?

When you replaced the battery make sure you didnt miss the small lead on the -ve terminal.

Is the battery the correct rating?

Is the alarm activated? what does the PATS light on top of the dash show?

It's a 12 V

It's does crank but does not fire
Battery is correct
I shall look what the PATS light does show.

I can smell the fuel. When i removed no.1 spark plug and try to start the fuel is almost floiting out of the cylinder, so that's no good i think. Could it be dryed out injectors. (car has driven on gas for about 150000 km)

It doesn't look  like a mist of fuel, more like a complessed small jet of fuel. Hopefully correct translated  Undecided

Remco.
I have had many problems in the past with disintegrated engine wiring looms on 12valve Scorps. In particular there are three signal wires that travel from the distributor to the ECU,they are bound inside a copper screen,if they degrade, which they do,the symptoms you describe are produced, especially if you happen to have washed the engine. To make a decent repair job,it's best to remove the engine loom from the socket on the inner wing, leaving the gearbox bit in situ, strip it,and retape every wire before binding them all back together.I have found that the damage can extend along the inner wing and partly across in front of the rad.If you can find no other reason for your problem,it would be worth checking the loom running along the top of the engine first, particularly the triple screened cable,it is surprising what you may find.
This job is tedious but is not rocket science,it just requires patience and determination.New looms have long been obsolete.Bad electrics are the bane of these cars, and many a good Scorp has been laid to rest because of it.
        Good luck
