i have tried doing a search but cant find an answer, but is there a reason that each time i start my car the climate control put the aircon on, its not hot out side, the temp is set to 22 deg, and the air direction is set to face?

hi there

remember the a/c should be used for at least 1/2 hour a month all year round. otherwise the system will/could seize.

BTW, using the a/c keeps the windows fog free in bad weather. Wink

As far as I am aware, the aircon will only come back on as default if the engine has been off for more than 1 hour.....for instance, if you restart the car after 20 minutes then the aircon should still be off  Smiley

The answer seems to be contained in THIS article.

Now that's interesting because my car does virtually the opposite to what has been described as the default operation (uh oh!). With the a/c already on, if I switch the engine off and go shopping, the a/c comes back on automatically on re-starting. It seems to know that I left the a/c on previously (but this only works for up to say one hour of parking). If however I manually switch the a/c off before turning off the engine, then the a/c won't come back on automatically. Mind of its own!

The whole system is described in the Handbook . the most relevant page is HERE which explains in detail what can and cannot be achieved.

The DEFAULT setting for the climate control is ON.

Interesting. I guess mine has a fault because it definately does not operate in the manner described in the handbook. With mine the a/c is always off on start up (whether left for 4 mins or 4 days) and if I want it on I have to manually switch it on. The only exception to this being if the a/c was already on when I turn the engine off and then it remembers this setting for an hour or so. Well, it all works so I'm not worried. In fact if it did operate as per the handbook I think it would be irritating to have to manually switch it off. Looks like I got a rebel one! Thanks for the info.

The AC light does not show when you start the car but the AC IS on.

just a thought....

Mindofitsown does yours have climate control or is your aircon button the large centre button you push which activates the light in the centre of it??

Sounds to me that might be what you have

The default settings on Scorpio's can be altered by the fmd on their WDS software but you had to pay for the privalige, I enquired about this very thing when I first ever got my Scorp.  They wanted £118 to reprogram it and the flash on alarm setting, so I didn't bother.... Roll Eyes

Hi all,
Yes I have climate control. I think my confusion lies in the fact that I assumed the a/c light would actually be lit when the system automatically puts a/c on. It does seem an odd feature to be driving around with a/c on without knowing it and using up extra fuel. That'll teach me to read the handbook properly!
