Its only the fact that the indicators no longer flash twice when the alarm is activated, whereas they did work before .  So although the alarm sets ok, there is no visual indication of this.  cheers  fred

For what it is  worth:
Hi when I had my heater matrix replaced earlier this year, after repair the LED on the dash stayed ON and the car would not start or -- sometimes yes it would - erratic. It would not lock and then it would etc.

My repairman and myself then went under the dash, under the heaterunit around the passenger footwell (LHD!) and found a loose connection, supposedly a ground wire, around an orange relay? or junctionbox? cannot remember, which we fastened.
It had come loose during the rebuild operation which was quite laborious and dangled there, just forgotten.
Worked ever since without fail.

Yes Dave, everythings working fine. I noticed that in the drivers manual it states that the indicators flash depending on country, or words to that effect.   Anyway I`ve been out in the garage all evening, and I`ve checked out all the circuits, and they all appear to be OK.   Even the small red led on top of the dash is indicating that the anti theft system is working.  I think I`ll live with the small  problem with the indicator,   as I dont relish the garage taking the dash out again.  Disturbing it further is pushing my luck!
As far as the front parking sensors are concerned, thats comparatively easy, as the control box is just behind the radio, and I suspect that one of the very thin guage wires has come adrift.   All in all I`m satisfied with the main job.  Thanks for your interest, and I`ve saved the old matrix for your inspection.  cheers now  fred.

p.s. It could be something to do with the relay not re-setting itself after re-cnnecting the battery Undecided

Maybe new specs would be a better idea?? Wink

How do they work then Freddy? Can you override them? switch them on and off?
Got any pics?

I've wondered about fitting the Scorpio rear sensors to the front but never done much more than thought about it Smiley

Just completed reading the heater saga, excellent stuff. I had rear parking sensors on a previous Scorp and miss them coz there aren't any on the current one! I too would be interested in getting front and rear ones 'professionally' fitted. Who did yours Mr Freddie?

you shouldn,t need them professionally fitted waglet, they are so easy to fit ,the hardest bit is getting the holes aligned with one another and making it look straight.
then there is one wire to the reversing lights and one to earth.
there are loads of kits on the market depending on your want.

Yeah,  easy peasy.

I fitted a set  to  my  Crown Victoria  which work of the reversing light 12v supply.

Fitting to the front and rear of the Scorp  should  be just as easy.

Also saw in Maplins a kit that means you do not have to drill any holes, sensors are fitted into a new number plate surround and wires taken through existing grommits.

The number plate ones are usually only two and  'stick on'. You really need four sensors  Winkto get a full spread of cover. I fitted a set to my Estate and they are excellent. If you go for a front and rear set you have to have power to them all the time as opposed to rear only which can be connected in to the reversing light supply. They are simple to fit, usually supplied with a 'hole cutter' and available colour coded.  Wink

Hi All,  Havent been too active on the site lately as I`ve been out partying.  Just to answer a few points.

1)  Re Front Sensors
Had my mate check the circuit out and there were no loose/broken wires.  He is going to get some info from the makers early next week.  The control unit is placed behind the radio for easy access, and seems to be in working order. He seems to think it might have to be re-programmed, as the power was off for almost a week.
The system was quite expensive as I didnt want stick-ons. The bumpers were drilled and the sensors were painted state blue to match the car.

As far as the anti theft indicator repeater problem is concerned, the garage is going to put the car on a diagnostic check, which should reset the various components back to pre heater state.

I think that the lack of power over the few days has lost the various memory functions on some of the circuits, and they need to be reset.

One other thing I noticed is that the drivers door window now doesnt operate on  "one touch" closing, probably due to the same reset problem.

Anyway folks, the heater is first class now. When the outside temp has been down to -1  degrees, I had the settings on 22 degrees in the car and that was too much, it had to be reduced to 18degrees. (all on auto setting)

Anyway, once again, thanks for all your posts and interest over the past couple of weeks.  I should find out more about the various resets during the week, so I`ll keep you posted.  Cheers Fred Wren.

Fred, Good to hear things are getting sorted. The 'one touch' window fix is listed in the fault finder HERE so you can sort that easily enough. Best wishes, Mike. Wink

Fred, I remember having read somewhere on the website, probably around the Remote Fob pages, that using the WDS/FDS2000 OBD one can program 1, 2 flashes or none for alarm setting, thus production allowing for country dependent laws. The Swiss are different than the Germans etc.

It may also be on one of my TIS CD-ROMS, I will have a look.
Ring a bell for anyone?

No these are not, they are fitted into the frame that goes behind the number plate (supplied) so they are a firm fit.  Would be alright if you were not wanting to drill holes, at least they will not fall off once the sticky pads wear off Grin
