Aircon controller/Speedo issue

The left hand side of my Aircon Control panel seems to have died - no lights on that side (temp display and buttons/recirculate button) and the recirculate button does nada .... HOWEVER, it started working the other day but then the Speedo needle shot up to the the max stop point and wouldn't return. When I started the car again later that day the aircon control panel went wrong again and the speedo went right again lol.

I cannot look at the wiring diagrams because the link is dead so have little idea how the two may be interlinked.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

two seperate issues, ensure the multiplug behind the CC panel is fully home.

Speedo sounds like a failing battery

I don't normally have the flickering needles syndrome though, but do after about 5 days of no use, I am kinda doubting a battery issue, the alternator outputs a steady 14 volts as well.

I am pretty certain the two are related.

I removed all the relays and reseated them in the fuse box by the battery today but no difference, so far I am stuck with the lights off on the left of the arircon control and the speedo is working. Shame the wiring diagrams have gone now.

I will have to take the glovebox out and look at the looms behind, the glovebox was damp inside today, that probably has something to do with it.

If the glovebox is damp then it is a good bet that water is entering through the bulkhead grommet behind the auxillary fusebox and therefore a chance that the fusebox has suffered water damage.  Smiley

hi there

your battery should be able to last at least 14 days without failing, so if you have issues after 5, then something's wrong.

The possible link you suggesting might be the Vehicel Speed Sensor as part of the sensors from CC unit which appear also to be linked to the Instrument Cluster Microprocessor.
