Well my Scorpio has been in a garage for 5 years (how stupid am i) now last year I put some new fuel in it a new battery and there doesn't appear to be a spark any idea's what to do.
Car is a 1997 on a P and it's a 2.0 auto.
Also when the car was running I had a slipping auto box when putting it into drive, it was fine if you went through the gears manually though. It was also be fine if you let the car warm up.

The first thing to do is check the gear box oil level when the whole thing is HOT ( up to normal temp) after a very good run is best it might just be low. otherwise it could be as simple as dirty filter but from past experiences sounds a bit ominous, although I might be wrong.
The car not starting could be a number of things but it  would be worth checking a live feed to the coil packs, the cut off switch in the boot, or even the crankcase sensor ... a whole number of things but you will hav eto check through them one at a time nothing costly there though.

Over filling a gear box is nearly as bad as running one without the correct level. It can lead to a LOT of problems, namely blown seals and the like. Failing to to the checks correctly can and often does cost more than doing them the right way.

There is a wealth of information , in fact the WHOLE of the Ford Technical Service Disc on the main site under www.fordscorpio.co.uk. Have read through the relevant pages and decide which way is the best for you.
I would not start to make guess's at what is wrong with your car with out seeing it.  YOU have to make the decisions based on what you find.

Lets get it started first Smiley

You need it running before you can properly check the oil level anyway.

As you've just fitted a new battery make sure you've not missed one of the leads on the -ve terminal, its easily done.

Is your battery a good one and of the correct rating?
