hi there

you need to wire it in. if you're lucky then the wiring is there behind the interior light fitting.

if not, all it needs is a feed and earth. this is NOT how ford has it wired, though. it switches off while in reverse, but i don't know how to wire this into it.

remember it's a big heavy mirror and can leak stuff which can melt the plastic around the gearstick.

No need to fit a   ex-Scorp one.

There are plenty aftermarket rearview models with auto-dim and compasses  and  stuff.

All you need is a 12v feed  from the ignition.

Donelly's  are  a  good make.

The auto dim mirror uses a bracket that is stuck to the windscreen & the mirror slides downwards over the bracket to hold it in place. Ford might still sell them, if not, then try a breakers or maybe someone on here may have one  Smiley

Put a post in 'Parts wanted'. There are lots of cars being broken and that would be your best bet. Removal of the mounting bracket is best achieved by heating the area with a hair dryer or similar, If you get one make sure you use a sticky pad from Fords as they are very good, unlike some from the accessory shops, and they are only pence.

Hi, seeing as I'm likely going to fit a standard mirror in my car (can't justify paying upwards of £40 for something that might work for a day) you're welcome to my bracket if you want it, I assume you're just after the bit that sticks on the screen, I've thrown the rest away after removing the LCD layer didn't go to plan due to fluid leakage welding the bottom of the case together!

PM me an address to send it to & you're welcome to it if it comes off OK (I'm not risking the screen for the thing though!)

Cheers, Dan.

Just warm the area gently with a hair dryer or similar and then use a thin blade to ease the mount off the screen. As it warms up the glue will 'give' and the blade will lift it off. Smiley
