Hi folks, problem is on a 2 litre of an acquaintence of mine it runs until warm, then cuts out, dosnt restart until cold(ish) came up with cam position sensor, air temp sensor and coolant temp sensor. then fans(both)were running at full speed.until they were disconnected. Does the temp gauge use a different sensor to the engine ecu.if so is the ecu temp sensor the one with lots of wires? when running if you pull off the cam pos sensor nothing happens, its the one near the rear coil and the wire is on the coil loom. is the air temp sensor the one on one pipe going into the throttle housing? could it be an ecu fault? thanks Paul

Paul, the ECU receives its signal from the sender you describe and the other one feeds the temperature gauge and yes the Air intake sensor is located in the rubber trunking to the throttle. This might help.

My only experience of a dodgy cam shaft sensor was that it made the engine pink badly at times If it's starting okay, running & then cutting out when it's warm & then not restarting until it's cooled, then my first port of call would be to check that the fuel pump relay isn't overheating & cutting the power to the fuel pump. My next thought would be possibly a faulty fuel rail pressure regulator

Hi Paul, One of the members on here had a problem with the car cutting out when it warmed up then not restarting for ages. In his case the fault was in the EDIS wiring loom behind the drivers side headlight. The black and white wire had corroded from EIDS - ECU - Fuel pump so when it warmed up the fuel pump cut out..

I had the same problems on a rover, and it turned out to be the camshaft sensor. Changed that and it is perfect(for a rover)
