ABS+traction control warning light

Starting from today, the ABS and traction control warning light illuminates after a 100 meters of driving (not on after the initialization shuts it, i.e. they light up again). If I run it on idle without driving, the lights does not show up. Once illuminated, it wont go off during the drive. The traction control, however, seems to work, as I can feel how the left and the right wheel pulls separately in turn on slippery road.

Opinions? Should I have the memory scanned ASAP or should I wait for it to go away?

The symptoms are a classic sign of a fault with the 'pins' which carry the current from the control unit to the motor which sits on top of it and is connected by a two pin connector. If you get a scan done it will probably show up as a 'motor' fault as power is not getting to it. The system performs a 'self check' and the lights go out BUT once you reach 10-12mph the light comes up. The assumption is that until this speed is reached there is no need for the motor to function. Tompion is the expert on this and it was he who discovered the cause and provided the solution. The details are shown HERE. To test the motor simply unplug it and apply 12v to it. If it runs then clearly it is not defective. Wink

The symptoms have vanished just as quickly as they appeared, when I tested it during the day the lights came up all the time. When I drove home from work the lights didn't come on anymore. Well now I know what to check first. Where exactly is the controller installed, I tried to look for it in the diagrams? Is it called "module" in the diagrams?
