New member and VNR 9000 Satnav Question!
« on: Apr 4th, 2009, 1:20pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

Hi all,

I'm a new joiner to the forum - although I have used the site quite a few times before to help diagnose issues with my 96 24v.  I've donated £50 - as this site is a godsend.

Anyways - I have procured a VNR 9000 satnav unit - but I don't have the CD.  Does anyone know where I can get a copy?  I'm watching eBay - but none there right now.

Any help appreciated.

Best wishes to you all....

hey dml316, i was planning to fit one of these in my Scorpio but heard that it won't work with the radio control unit you've got on the left of the steering column by the steering wheel.

did you manage to get that to work? Which sat nav exactly you're using?  got a photo?

yeah but when i was looking for the vnr 9000 satnav on the internet i found two or three kinds, 1 with black-white display and 2 with full colour...

besides, how good is it as a sat-nav comparing to those you can get now for around 100-150£? i mean the map coverage, points of interest etc.

Oh its not great, the last update disc was 2003 so a lot of roads have changed, you're better with you're Tomtom but i like the look of them in place Wink

Didnt think there were different kinds, never seen a black and white one, there are different Ford satnavs with plain displays

search in google images for vnr 9000 and you'll see, i think on the first page a photo of a sat-nav, described as vnr 9000 with black and white display...

i've got Sony Nav-U93 which is pretty good for it's money, and has the handsfree module which is a blessing for me.

but i like gadgets and want to have the vnr 9000 fitted Wink like u said, it looks nice Wink

i found two on ebay, one with cd changer for 395£ i think and one with basically no description for something like 4£ with 10 days till end of the auction. sent the seller a few questions and maybe i can get it for pennies Wink just for fun. Cheesy but don't have those keys to remove the radio... need to look for them on ebay.

if anyone has a vnr 9000 for sale, let me know Wink

Thanks Highlander!  PM on it's way.
I know the VNR9000 isn't the best system by a long way - but it fits the space where the old 7000 unit was - and it looks good - even though I'll rarely use the satnav features anyway.
It is a straight swap (bar a new aerial)...

Thanks for help and speedy replies guys...

Yep straight swap, uses the same connectors, they plug in a slightly different layout but they all fit Wink

Some people have been successful in fitting the sat nav head units from a Galaxy. These are double DIN rather than the 1.8 DIN of the Scorpio, but with a bit of chopping they can be made to fit....
