Could be that the cut out is operating , which is as far as I understand a thermal cut out which resets itself after it cools down. The window mechanism apparently struggling , but the reason it is will have to be investigated.. Take the door panel off and look its not a difficult job. maybe a drop of the magic oil will fix it for you.

Silicone in a spray tin is fantastic for sticky windows.
Spray it inside of the window runners, I use it for mine as I have wind deflectors fitted on all four doors and the windows are a tad tight when they reach the top but the spray helps to ease them up.

Very easy rich, they just slot into the window runner, no screws or fixings.
The front pair were transferred from my MKIII, the back pair were purchased a few months ago.
If you come across a set off a MKIII Granada they will fit the Scorpio be it either estate or saloon.

A word of warning though.............They ain't cheap.

Front...........£48.90 a pair (inc vat) Saloon & Est
Rear............£29.33  "  "    ( "    "  ) Saloon & Est

They also do headlamp protectors for the Scorp @ £34.21 (inc vat) a pair.
