Hi Tony, I have removed a few sets in my time with a hammer and cold chisel. You have to be careful so as not to slip and damage the alloy. Good luck.

Depends on the type, mike - if its the RS type with the loose outer collar, you'll need to split that first before hammering the socket on

There is a universal socket that you can buy with a series of hexagonal pins that fit down the centre designed to fit any nut, this works a treat.

| Thanks for the info but i got it done by welding a bar onto the locking nut and got it off that way. But your way seems easier. And as it happens i bought one of those uni sockets the other week......... i'll remember next time.........

If you look very carefully on the collar on the locking nut you will see a small code letter stamped into it... that is the code you need to get a replacement from FMD. The key also has the same on it ... worth making a note of it somewhere safe.
