The temp variation seems excessively large (80-218 ) can anyone tell me what it should be ?? I had a look at mine today and it seemed to peak at 132.6 although this was on a short run. Where is this temp taken from ?? and what are the other readings when pressing the milometer reset ??

The readings are taken from the temperature sender unit for the EEC. NOT the one for the temp gauge. and its a logarithmic scale so 255 is 0 degrees and 0 is boiling point so it should stay in the region of about 100 i would have thought .. My scorpio used to vary between 90's and 125 depending on what I was doing and the ambient temperature, from what I can remember.

I think the easiest solution is to have your local garage do a "sniff test" on your coolent. Should only cost around £5 and you should know if the head gaskets are ok or not. I had a similr problem when i first got my cossie, but a change of coolent & a good old wash of the system sorted it. Hope you sort it soon
