you're problem in 99,9% will be a worn ignition barrel... rebuild it and you'll be fine.

How would that work?? I'll have a look at a steering column Tekno, possibly yours has been forced/broken at some point or the catch has stuck/seized open?

Tekno, if you remove the plastic cowling you should be able to see whats wrong. I'm assuming from your post the steering lock doesnt work rather than it being stuck on and you cant get it off? This one actually seemed a bit stiff, the locking pin (circled left) didnt come up very easily to lock the steering wheel. If you remove the ignition barrel you can see into the workings of the steering lock (circled right), cant see how to remove it easily but it may just need a bit of lubrication in there.

| honestly, have no idea but the problem is brought up quite often on the polish forum and almost every time it's the ignition barrel failure and rebuilding it sorts the problem...

| In the picture and article here: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ignitionlock.htm The part referred to as "lock cover" helps push the plug forward to unlock the steering when the key is turned & prevents re-locking of the steering until the key is removed. So it could be that sticking.
