driving home tonight , when i noticed my temp gauge was on red , pulled over and thats when i saw loads of steam pouring out from passenger side and water leaking out from what also looked like passenger side , topped the water back up , got it about a mile from home when the temp gauge stearted to drop all the way down , then the car just came to a complete stop, a couple of policemen helped me push on to a grass verge (god they are heavy cars) so will have to go back in the morning to have a look and get it towed home , how will i know if its the radiator ? remember its me , the biggest numpty going when it comes to motors !!or is there a chance it could be something else?

thanks in advance , rich

The temp guage being in the red obviously means it's too hot, & when it drops right down that means it's probably even hotter because the water level is below the temp sensor, so it can't take a reading.

Hopefully it's the rad/split pipe etc & is repairable, but the fact that it came to a stop after being so hot is a little worrying  Sad.....the over heating may have caused some real damage to the engine  Undecided

Good luck  Smiley

got to honest , thats what im really worried about
if it was the radiator that blew , wouldnt the steam and water blow out from the front of the car ? it all seemed to come out from under the passenger wing.
got a really horrible feeling about this , i hope it aint the end of my beloved scorpio(budgie is yours still for sale  Smiley[

The heater matrix outlet pipe is on the O/S & has a plastic connector about halfway that does tend to go a bit brittle & break after a while....I wonder if this is the cause ?  Smiley
