I need a bit of info can any one recomend what atf to use in my auto box it is a 2.9 12valve.

Normal AFT dextron II i remember read one manual... i use now semisynt Dextron II and works nice,
Change PowerSteeringsystem oil too.

The new filter may be thiner than the old one and the bolt will then be to long, just put some washers on it, so if in the future they change back the bolt will fit. I used dextron 3 in my box but the motor factor said its the same as dextron 2 just more expensive.

If you email trevor at Fordpartsuk along with your VIN umber he wil sort out the right ones for you and ask for the "o" rings and shorter bolt AFAIK , There is a parts enquiry form on there as well jsut mention the forum/site he is ussually very good to us .

On the right hand side, in the front part of my autobox, I have some kind of an oil filter (bright orange). Is this some kind of standard setup that should be changed too? What is it for?

Oh yes indeed Smiley It was the oil filter for the engine. I always thought it was under the cover and this was a second one. These kinds of confusions do occur when you don't have a decent lift Smiley
