Sounds like switch / relay . . .

Easy one first is to replace bulb
( or if you have a volt meter is there 12v where the bulbs go )

Where to begin  Huh

So far I've tried two switches and and two relays.
I've scotchbrited the accessible terminals and cleaned everything else with electrical cleaner and I did notice at one point having removed the relay and cleaned it, upon its replacement every thing lit up only not to work again when the light were switched on for a second time.  Angry  Huh
As of yet I haven't got the multi-meter out and was really hoping someone might have had an easy solution before I go down that path Embarassed

Unplug the switch on the dash and check for any burn marks. make sure the multiplug at the fuse box is in correct, ( you might think its in but it might not be in right )

Make sure your replacement switches are the same as your original.
I think there are 2 different types - cars without front foglamps have the rear of the switch made of blue plastic, cars with front foglamps have white plastic. Just commenting from headlight switches I've come across.

Sierra XR4i's are great...especially when fitted with 4WD Smiley

Mike is right in that there are two sorts of switches. The fog lamps, front and rear, work on a two stage 'pull out' action on the switch.  Wink If you look carefully at the pins on the switch you may find one is corroded/burnt. I had a lighting fault on mine and if IIRC it was  pin 15. (They are all numbered)

Thanks chaps

Both switches are correct for a two stage 'pull out'. One is actually the cars original switch whilst the other, I can't remember where I got this from but it is correct. I did incidentally price up a new switch today when I ordered a new relay, WOW, there dear retailing at £64+vat. I can get a little cheaper being in the trade but still. Cry
I will have to pull it out again to check pin 15. I have heard they burn out but rather expected to see melted plastic rather than just a scorched pin rather like the early Granada's heated rear window switch which use to melt for fun.  Embarassed

Why should it burn out if it's never used. Huh

Thanks again
Mike
