I have recently pick up my second Scorpio, it is a 2.0l Ultima, everything works as it should apart from the cruise control, it does not even light up on the dash when pressing the button on the steering wheel. Is there a fuse or relay for this i should be looking for?

Hi,

There is a relay for CC, R37 green behind the glove compartment, next to the yellow one for AC. But do check if you have the CC pump in place as I've seen a few cars sold with CC steering wheel that was swapped at some point but no CC mechanics ROFL

hi there

the traction control has a button on the centre consol.

does the horn work? if no t/c and horn NOT working, then it might be a fuse.

next thing to check is all the brake/clutch switches.

Oi, TIS calls it the actuator, though for me and all my mechanic mates it was always called the pump, as it's called differently by different manufactures.
Sorry if that confused anyone, though I can't see a reason for a tone like that Snoopy, that's no way to talk to people.

UPDATE.
I have just read this  Shocked  and you have a PM. I suggest you read it. When we need advice from you as to how to speak to people we'll be sure to ask.  Don't hold your breath. Simmo

I'm sure Snoopy wasn't being rude, but it is nice to use proper terms instead of "slang" mechanic terms, for the simpltons like me who know nothing about mechanics so we don't get confused when fault finding a problem

Steve. One thing to check is that the cable from the CC unit is actually attached to the throttle linkage. It is only held by a plastic 'banjo' fitting and can easily become detached, particularly if you have been working in that area. You will see the bowden cable coming from the unit behind the fos headlamp to the throttle so just make sure it is connected.  Wink

sorry but maybe all of you would start helping people instead acting like a bunch of bossy kids pushing each other around and wasting peoples time. People come here for help and so far what I can see, they get arguments, and post saying 'i know how to help you but I won't for whatever reason'.
In a situation like this one here a moderator should come around and just change one word to another or ask the user to do that and put an end to the whole thing. As far as I'm concerned we can call things whatever we like and we often do, so what?! Make an announcement telling people to call things the way they are called in literature or describe them accurately enough so that there is no confusion or just give the thing a break...
What kind of a forum is this? I've never seen things like this before on a forum...

Put simply up until YOUR arrival things have run very smoothly with just the odd intervention from the moderators none of whom need your advice as to how to run the site. If the forum does not suit you then the answer is simple. Don't use it. Unless you accept the 'status quo' that decision will not be yours.

Your post is only still present to allow Admin to see its content.  Angry

Steve. I have just checked my Ultima which has working cruise control and there is only one yellow relay in the glove box compartment.  According to the handbook R28 for the heater blower motor and relay 38 for the Air Compressor? are both yellow and both in that compartment. Relay 37,green, is for the Speed control system..as I said mine is ok and does NOT have that relay there nor any sign of a blank for one. R31 is blue and is for headlamp washers. I do not have headlamp washers fitted BUT there is an 'empty' socket which is blue.  In short there is just one yellow relay and a 'blank' blue socket.  This could indicate a change in production as the list also gives a Brown relay for the window trip switch in the drivers door but I am not aware of anyone actually locating one.

hi there

iirc, the green one is only there if you have traction control.

be very weary of putting relays in or adding to the scorpio's wiring systems. it doesn't take kindly to it! Wink
