Yesterday car was running fine, stopped, restarted 20 mins later was perfect in neutral/ park but in drive, whole engine was shaking would only do 10 mph....if took foot off gas at 5mph was smooth no shaking

like the pats had interfered or similar..drove for a mile stopped turned off/on again fine.

a long shot but any ideas worried will get stuck some place

Sounds like limp mode

Did it thump hard into D before you moved off then seem to drop to 2 cylinders everytime you pressed the accelerator but seem to tickover fine ?

I have had this happen on a few of mine and never found out why but as you say switch off and restart and its fine

There is an issue with the autobox that causes this to happen when put in reverse. I’ve only ever had it happen on a coldish morning with a cold engine.

Not the same as yours is with a warm engine in drive, but I suppose it’s possible it could be a similar fault.

A scan may help.

ah think its making some sense now, thank you. The solenoids on the autobox are an issue ...it is slow shifting from 2-3 sometimes and often i cannot get reverse

hasnt troubled me unduly just take foot off pedal when its shifting...and sometimes it doesnt go into reverse first time
so if there is alink re limp mode and autobox it makes sense..there was a code re solenoid sticking in pcm which ive just cleared

now i know i can handle sort of..tks for info
