Electrical help needed.

Hi all, Need help from the electrical gurus. Been on good run today, up to Bridlington. A round trip of 345 miles. Engine performed great, averaging 40mpg, but I've now developed an strange set of electrical faults. When I switched off the ignition the dashboard lights stayed on. I.E oil level, water level handbrake etc even with the key removed. When I tried to restart the car nothing happended. I messed around with the fuse boxes to see if anything was loose (couldn't see anything obvious) & eventually it started. But, here's the problem....none of the electrics now work. No indicators, wipers, washers headlights, brakelights etc. The remote doesn't work anymore either. Dashboard lights work ok as does the rear heated window, hazards, radio & AC. Anybody got an idea where I could start checking??

Do you have a battery cover fitted? You might have moisture/corrosion in your fusebox. Also, do check all battery connections are tight & clean, all multiplugs connected. Sounds a bit unlikely all of those relays died at once.

Right, been checking & it seems the problem may be with the multiplug connector on the fusebox on the O/S If I press down on the connector/fusebox very hard certain things start working again. BTW, yes there is a battery cover & I fitted a new battery last week.

Robzere. As i'm sure you must know by the number of times it happens on this site ,that multiplug is easily fitted back with one row of pins out of line.Have you or someone else had it off ? if not it may be an idea to take it off give it a good spray and refit it making sure the end lugs are correctly fitted. Sounds like your fuseboxes need rebuilding.
