Dave.
The front rad is the condensor for the aircon gas and is not connected to the engine cooling system. From your description it would appear that you have a leak in your cooling rad which just looks as though it's emanating from the condensor as they are close together. If you fit a pattern part rad, many of them are of an inferior quality,it seems the Cossie must have a tough high quality rad.I bought a Cossie with an inferior rad,the bottom rail was pushed off by the pressure, and the lower water tubes were hanging down in an arc.I honestly believe that this engine was not sufficiently tested at the outset, and is beset by problems, particularly now that age is creeping up on it.The Cologne engine on which it is based is a wonderful old lump,as tough as old boots, very low stressed and if properly maintained will give incredible service.

I dont think its a problem with the engine, the pressure cap may be a problem as I think mine had stuck shut and my rad ballooned on the top. The outside tube went round at one end under the pressure so there also may be a problem with how the rads are made.

My own personal view on this problem is that the genuine Ford 24v rad has a faulty design.

did you see where yours was leaking from Dave? the seam down the side panels is a favourite place

The BOA engine in the Granada does not suffer the same problems.

What with very expensive thermostats, vastly expensive water pumps and overly expensive rads.... It makes the cooling system on the BOB a wallet emptier if things start to play up...
