Still not clonking anymore ......just moaning a little when reversing, as though the pads are sticking to the disc ? I suppose there is no getting around the fact that this car does really need new calipers

Do calipers wear out that much? Pads probably rubbing on the disc causing vibration. Ack-cherlee, if the pistons are a bit stiff they may not be lifting off properly which may be what this is all about. Have had similar with Brembo calipers (re Moto Guzzi / BMW motorbikes), pistons can seize up meaning strip and rebuild the caliper to clean it out
