Hi all,

My rad fans on my scorp 2.9i are on all the time from the turn of the key and never turn off, its been going on for a while now and my car never gets warm, which is a bit of a bummer in the winter.. Shocked

Any ideas what it could be

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the site, there's a couple of things you can try first check your Heater Blower Conrol ..http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/hbctest.htm .............Or you could try and reset you climate control http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccreset.htm ... The latter is probably easier....... HTH

Nige.
The 12v fans are operated via a sensor in the O/S of the rad,and a large green relay on the inner wing behind the offside headlamp, these both need checking. The aircon system can, when faulty, cause fan problems, particularly the pressure valve to the nearside of the condensor under the plastic cover which can be accessed by lifting the bonnet and looking in front of the radiator, there is a small multiplug on the cable which can be separated for testing.Take a good look through the fault finding section on this site, with vigilance you will find the answer to your problem.

A failed ECT sensor (electronic coolant temperature sensor) is a usual suspect for turning the fans on all the time  Smiley

NormanHallThe Fans on my 12 v very rarely came on under NORMAL driving except in very hot weather and when standing in traffic for some time. Takes a long time to get them up to temp to switch on if on tick over to test them. Do they come on with the A/C switched on?

nigelyzf56 your problem is different . I woudl as JC does a faulty sensor on the side of the rad or even the relay Gozz mentions .. not expensive to change or get hold of.  the radiator sensor would need a water change but even that is relatively easy on the 12v and it does not seem to suffer from the airlock problems of some of the other models .....

Hi Nige

Just something else that you might check.   Mine is a 2.3, but I wonder if the 2.9 is similar.   The wee sensor on the thermostat housing on mine that sends the message to the fans, defaults to them being ON when it's goosed.   So that if you remove the electrical connector, the fans come ON no matter what the temperature.   Used to be the other way around with my older Fords, (defaulting to OFF) and is the other way around with the fitted Kenlowes on my Malta Zodiac.   Just a thought.

And the 12 v does not have one!!!!!!!!!!!
Only fitted to the 2.0l 2.3l and 24v  The 12v relies on the radiator fan switch.
