hi there

replacing the front discs and pads is easier than changing the bushes.

ebay do good deals on the mintex range.

But if the discs are fine which garage claim, then I would be wasting my money on discs?

How likely is it that the bushes are causing this problem? I've had them go on my old Mondeo and the car's steering wheel would pull in one direction, but this problem is a shaking from left to right quickly.

The front discs are only two years old and have done very little miles in that time (approx 8K)
I've been quoted approx £110+VAT for new bushes

Anything else cause this, or as these the only likely culprits, the bushes or front discs?

hi there

re the price. is that including fitting them as the rear bush was about £20 each?

i personally don't agree with just changing the bushes. i did it when i had my car and the ball joint failed very shortly afterwards, so had to do the job again.

other will have different opinions.

re the brakes. they could still be warped even after a short time/mileage. take a wheel off and using a nail, hold it very close to the disc using the carrier as a rest. spin the disc and check the disc for trueness. if it hits the nail, then they're warped.

remember it doesn't take a lot of movement to give you the shakes at high speed.

The garage have supposedly check the discs on the front and they are fine.
The cost for the bushes did include fitting, so I did not think that price was to much. This shaking to me does suggest warp discs as I had this on the Mondeo once, but I'm not an expert.

I just want to be sure I solve the issue once and for all.

What's everybody's view on here should I replace front discs which seem ok by the garage, or replace th bushes?

Hi I would do as Scorpio man suggests re the discs and check for trueness. Unless you trust your garage, this small test will see if they have actually checked them, proving them wrong or right.
You can at the same time, while the wheels are off, check the bushes, any movement and they are shot. As for the replacement price for the bushes, your garge is literally charging you 90 quid to fit them which I think is excessive. You could do both yourself in under an hour saving a hell of a lot    Lee
