Strange ABS and TC problem

Yesterday as I was pulling out of the parking lot at my work, I could not ressist letting the tail of the car wag a little...it was icy so my speed was just above walking speed really. The TC kicked in as the back slid out and that was my moment of fun...

However after that and all the way home the ABS and TC light was on. I did make stop, where I switched off the ignition and then started again, and the ABS and TC wen't trough it's self test ok, and switched off. hovever as soon as the TC kicked in (icy road but nordic winter tyres), the TC light would blink, and the throttle pedal vibrate as it does when the TC works. Then both the ABS and the TC light came on permanently again.

I drove home and checked the manual...but it made me no wiser, as it justr said bring the car to Ford and let them have a look. And I planned to.

But this morning as I drove the car in to work, the TC worked normally, and the ABS lights did not come on.
And brakes have been working okay all the way.

So wonder if it could just have been some ice or snow getting in and blocking the sensor after my little show off low speed drifting attempt?

This is a very common problem, but often it is fixed by cleaning the rear ABS sensors, as you already guessed.

Hi Norseman Smiley.  I've had exactly the same symptoms as you and will do as thundkvi suggests when the weather gets a bit warmer, in the meantime take care.

Thanks for the answers...made me feel a lot better, lol

Where do thse sensors sit. Just for later reference. In a couple of months I have to switch to summer tyres, and may as well go over them and clean then.

Pretty sure can skip the part that you remove brake calipers etc.

Thanks. Been snowing this morning and I did some fun drifting trough corners at low speed. Just to see if it would happen again...it did not, and everything has been working fine. I guess it was just some Ice and snow on the sensor system...

This is not usually my driving style though...but when the wife and kids are not in the car, there is soft snow and no other cars an people around...I do get about 18 years old again...lol

...or maybe am watching Top Gear to much...well...if that was the case I would not get a Ford Scorpio anyway...lol
