Cosworth Aerial

I live in a quiet little lane near Minehead where you wouldn't expect vandalism, but recently, late at night, some clown waded in the nearby stream and proceeded to walk over the roof and bonnet of my Ultima and also a neighbouring car. I discovered it the next morning with the paintwork scuffed and the aerial snapped off. Luckily I was able to T-Cut the paintwork but need a new aerial. It is a screw in type and I wonder if the mast part has a male or female end? If male, it may be possible to drill out the old piece and screw in a replacement. Does anyone know the answer and (or) possess a spare one?

George. The aerial base has the male thread and the antenna has the female threaded socket. The antenna simply unscrews. If you have access to a breakers one from a KA will fit if no one on the site has one. I take it the actual base is still in place?.

Thanks Simmo. Yes the base is still in place but I'm afraid the antenna snapped off flush with the base and so presumably, the threaded rod must be inside the threaded socket. This makes for a difficult job methinks.......

The acess to the aerial base is via the interior light and sunroof unit seen Here. IIRC the aerial lead is bolted on and the base clips in place so not too difficult. Just a case of finding the correct base. Make sure you seal the replacement well. Put up a new post in parts wanted and see if any one has a complete unit. You should be able to drill out the rod from the antenna if necessary.

That's very kind of you, Tons of fun. My car is a '98 Cosworth estate and I could meet up with you in Watchet if I don't solve it beforehand. My number is 07970116816. Thanks again. George
