Diff? clunking

Hello When I press accelerator pedal, I hear a clunk from somewhere rear. It comes also when I lift foot from pedal. What that could be? Differential bushes? I changed differential and driveshafts 4 months ago but backplate is still same as before.

I would think that it is more likely to be the prop shaft universal joint. Easy check if you go under the car and move the prop, movement in the universal joint will be obvious. HTH Tc

| If you mean BIG gear, it were fine when I checked em on december. I couldn't find any suspicious wear.. Diff was opened because I changed backplate and axles which is held by circlips inside diff.

I'd check the CV joints first of all, even if its not worn the bolts have been known to work loose

That's the sort of thing ~ what made me think of it, a tiny bit of rotation one way, a tiny bit the other

I've found possible cause. Outer left CV joint. It has massive play up and down.

I always use pattern parts for CV joints and gaiters, don't forget the 16v cars have a smaller joint than 2.9s and diesels. GOZZ.
