Hi All. My boot has decided not to open with the remote when the car is locked or unlocked and also it will not open when the button is pushed. It only now works with the key. It has been working fine up until now so cant work out why. Any suggestions would be welcome. Cheers Lee

Have you disconected the alarm horn at the back of the battery, Have a look to see if the LED light on the dash is flashing, if the alarm is activated, i don't think you can open the boot with the fob, or by the button but you can with the key. Try reprograming the remote. turn your key in the ignition to position 1,, 4 times when you hear the beep, press a button on your fob untill you hear another beep, turn your key to postion 0 and you will hear a confirmation bleep. If the remotes not working theres one on ebay at the mo.

When using the key it’s purely mechanical, when using the remote or the button it’s via the lock motor – so likely to be a problem with the wiring or the motor.
The wires on the saloon can get damaged where they run along the hinges.

The above ones are possible, but the motor needs to be ruled out. This is easy when you take off the trim and disconnect the motor multiplug, try to feed 12V to the motor from a low ampere source to be safe (e.g. a device DC adapter). I don't remember the polarity, black is usually ground, the top and bottom connector of the motor (row of three) controls the opening action. The middle one seems to be unused.

Not touched anything, anywhere on the car. The boot has just stopped opening with the fob and with the push button. Will investigate and let you know.

Lee. As Tompion says check the wiring loom by the boot hinge. You may have to unwrap some of the tape in order to see the cables but if the loom is not clipped right back the hinge will foul it and gradually damage the wires. Common problem.

Appendix ~ fob button contacts can get dirty needing several presses to make them work, like mine at the mo needs lots of "jiggling", 'speshly the boot one.

Will check the hinge wiring. Maybe some shopping has done something to it.    I agree with Mike. The boot does open when the alarm is on by using the fob button.
