Central Timer Location, where?

Hi all - recently I had my full engine compartment loom successfully replaced on my Cossie, after finding an excellent used one in Germany.  
 
No more electrical gremlins, alarms going, ABS malfunctioning, fans going off and on, wipers going spontaneously, dashlights coming on without keys, exposed strands smoking...
 
One new snag though - interior lights stay on, footwells, doors.  
 
I thoroughly checked the electrical diagrams for a cause which points to either Battery Saver Relay or Central Timer malfunction and/or bad or missing connection.
 
I found the battery saver relay but, I wanted to inspect the central timer module too - where exactly is it located?
 
Cannnot find it on our website nor on the TIS 0009 CD-ROM.
 
Looking forward to your suggestions and possible causes or even references.

If it is a Cossie remove the shround below steeering wheel and tucked well over to the left is the module, small plastic box, for non Cossie I understand it is directly in front of you when you remove the said shroud. my faulty one was causing rapid batt discharge, changed it and all ok.

They are all in the position described by Chieftain,held by two phillips headed screws,you can remove the plug fairly easily for testing purposes after pressing the little catch in,removing the unit is awkward,best done with a stubby screwdriver.The unit also provides the various buzzers and bells,lights on,park lock etc.

Thanks Chieftain & gozz -- is its location the same in my LHD Cossie?
 
Does it have a particular recognisable shape or color?
 
Before the loom replacement my perfect 2007 RDS radio, when switched OFF or ON, would be silent; now its 4 speakers when switched ON say 'click' and when shut down all say 'Plop'. Is this significant?
 
My Battery Saver relay cuts of the current to the interior lights, footwell lights and doors over night.  
 
Since I have not timed this does anyone know after what time?  
 
Also, when I open doors all lights do come ON -- but when starting the engine all should go out, which they do not.
 
Also when lit and the remote is pressed for closing or even double-locking they should go out; which they do not.  
 
Apparently some OFF-signal does not stimulate the Central Timer.
 
Are those possible clues to the cause?

It is a black plastic box app 8x6x3cm,don't know about LHD location,would not expect it to be on the other side.Why not pull the plug and see what happens ?

Do you happen to know the specs of the Battery Saver Relay? Cut after 1 hour or so?

I dunno on mine interior lights stay on 20 seconds after whenever door opened then closed
 
However they are always turned off immediately when either
 
1. Ignition turned on
 
2. car is locked (from the outside obviously)
 
There's no 1 hour time-out or owt like that that I know of  
 
That is of course on the 20 sec. timer setting. There's 3 positions of each light switch, 20 sec. timer, permanently on, and completely off (don't come on by doors open). I usually leave 'em off completely. Centre of the slide switch is the off position.

Hi Mike H -- that's exactly what mine is NOT doing..!
 
So I figure that a lead or a contact or the Central Timer itself is not responding to the OFF-signal, which it used to.
 
Since your Central Timer IS working there is no need for your Battery Saver Relay to disconnect after say one hour or so; so you would not notice.
 
Also there is this infamous Connector C110

which is known for its erratic behaviour.  
 
Hopefully tomorrow or so I will find the time and courage to bend my old frame under the dash and do a bit of investigating!

And there's me thinking the light switch is like, well, a light switch, you turn it off, it cuts all power to the lamp.
 
Will have to try the leave it on see if it goes off after one hour option sometime Grin

Yes Mike H -- let's have a "when does the light go out party" all over the world of this forum...
 
By now I discovered it is about one hour, when the Battery Saver relay kicks in, which is a healthy thought. If all fails - the BSR kicks in.  
 
I have ordered a new Central Timer as I am almost sure it is the culprit.  
 
The logic behind this is a bit complicated: If the engine is off AND you have a door opened the interior lights MUST go off in 20 secs HOWEVER if you have the headlights ON it MUST stay on BUT not over 1 hour.  
 
BUT if you decide to start - doors open or not - the interior lights MUST extinguish.  
 
BUT If you decide to close the car by using the remote OR the key the lights MUST go off too and so on... there is more but I will spare you from this, what in ICT we call a truth table...  
 
All of this "what-if functionality" is hardwired in the logic of this Central Timer.
 
Just using the old "cut and replace" method and see where it gets me.

Ahhh it was NOT the Central Timer; it was a failing doorcontact.  
 
The passenger doorcontact's connecting wire had dropped off inside the A-beam, against ground.  
 
Therefore the passenger's door's kerblights stayed on, causing the Central Timer NOT to switch off since it assumed this a valid required situation....
