What side is "Bank 1"?
« on: Jun 8th, 2010, 4:51pm »

Sorry, I did try searching but it just keeps coming up with an error. Further to my previous post, a local garage did diagnostics on the car today and the error code was P0141 Bank 1 Sensor 2 - the problem is they're not sure if this is left or right cat. They called Ford and they weren't sure either. Anyone know for definite which side this is, and where can I get a cheaper lambda sensor than Ford's £150 + Vat? Thanks Smiley

Bank 1 is the drivers side UK

Cylinders on bank 1 are numbered 1-3 front to back

Cylinder 1 is ALWAYS on Bank 1,  24v plug leads are numbered, get a new garage! Grin

Have a look on ebay, they are usually some on there for under £30

Thanks. Not sure if any other garages will be better TBH, none seem to want to touch it with a bargepole!

Great, thanks for the info. Um, still need help though, there seems to be so many different lambda sensors (with different numbers of wires?). Can you tell me exactly what to search for on eBay?

hi there

i wouldn't bother changing it as it only acts as a monitor. if you want to, it's a 4 wire one. most people use a universal one. you'll need to reuse your plug from your old lambda.

btw, is this the car that failed it's mot?

Yes this is the car that failed it's MOT.

So the garage that did the MOT plus this garage that did the diagnostics today said they thought it could well be a sensor that was the problem since the emissions were alternately high and low. Is that not the case? The guy said he thought there was a good chance that changing this faulty lambda sensor would solve the problems with emissions.

Sorry about this, I find all this very confusing because everyone seems to tell me different things, and I just want my car back. Sad It's off the road until this gets sorted - IF it gets sorted.
