Two cars both the same, ,98 2.5 diesel auto. Fault on the estate car ABS light on. Checked all the sensers and found rear driver side senser produced no reading, removed the same senser from the saloon and fitted to the estate to see the result. ABS light still on - mistake I made I place the possible faulty senser onto the saloon and switched on the ignition. ABS light came on. Both cars now have ABS light on. Do I need the fault codes to be cleared before the ABS light goes out. If I find a secondhand senser for the estate - presume same fault code to be cleared

I have had numerous ABS faults on Scorpios over the years, but once put right the light extinguishes by its self. The fault code may still be in the PCM but the light is off. GOZZ.

The car has to be driven above 15mph to clear the fault light. The code will remain in the system for recovery.

You are right Goss - I replaced a rear sensor on the estate and drove it less than 100 yds and the ABS light is now ok The sensor came from a Forum member - advice and parts - what more could you ask for
