The XJ is a different animal with very happy owners for the most part. It's the new S that gets poor reviews.

I moved on to an S-Type (4.2, 400BHP type r) a couple of years ago, as with all vehicles you can get bad ones, those are usually the ones you hear about, the early ones suffer much the same problems as the scorps, later ones (2002 on) are a lot better. they are a prestigue carand have to be maintained as such, my typ-r is fantastic, even more economical than my 24v scorp.

No, sorry missed it this year, last year was in a hire car (jag xj) I went to the national kit car show (which was crap) & then to a spring event (westfield championship) near Lichfield instead.
must admit the s-type is the ONLY car I have been in that reminded me so much of the scorp, in fact that is probably what the scorp would have evolved into had Ford carried on with it.

I just paid 70 quid for my 4 door 24V Ultima ..... taxed AND tested. All it needed was a top hose, duly sourced from a breaker for 9 quid. I did the tracking yesterday, and it's tons better to drive. Just needs the flaky bits and dents sorting.
