airco problem

Hello everybody. I'm new on this forum. I have just bought a Ford scorpio 2.9 12v 1996 and I'm very happy with the car, But the car has one problem. When I turn the climate control on it only gives hot air. I checked if the compressor was running and it did. The airco is filled right. The airco pipes under the hood are cold, but somehow the cold air does not go to the interiour. Sorry for my bad english, but i'm from holland.... I'm looking forward to your replies. Many thanks Bart

Dag Bart, welkom op ons mooie forum! Have you tried all other functions and flaps if they work properly like air flowing from the selected vents? When the airco is switched off, do you have outside air flowing in at the same outside temp? (Making sure the air is not heated by the heater matrix) With the Airco switched ON, do you measure a significantly lower air temp from the vents? How much lower? In my car the tempdrop is bout 20 degrees, with a minimum output temp settling at 4-5 degrees. For measuring I use a simple inside/outside electrical themometer from Blokker with the outside sensor on a long lead, which I hang from the doorwindow. Have you drained the 2 airco-pipes? Does your windscreen mist up? Which Airco-userpanel/verision do you have - the one with the three knobs or the SATC as mentioned in the restting article? Have you tried resetting as Highlander recommends? If all fails I have a Scorpio 24v Cosworth with excellent Airco waiting for you ) Ben benieuwd, Ray PS Have you read "CC Woes" here http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Problems;action= display;num=1272553263;start=20#20

Thanks for all the reactions. It makes no difference if the climate control is on or off. The temperture is only etting higher and higher. I think that there's a valve closed that should be open and is blocking the cool air to come in the interiour. I'm going to try the reset procedure now. I hope that it will fix the problems. I'll keep you posted.
