Not aware of any repair panel - a trip to your FMD or make your own. Saloon or estate ?

Its a saloon face lift model 2.3 ghia ,The bumper bolts have been replaced recently so no trouble taking it of .But the thing that worried me was the MOT inspecter said ,its a bit rotten up there ,it will be ok if theres anything to weld new metal to . But it would break my heart to see her on the scrap truck ,so she must be done what ever the cost .Better get the wife a second job just in case its bad .

How bad is it ?....maybe a bit of rust converter (after pulling out the really rotten bits), some wire mesh & decent filler like 'Plastic Padding Chemical Metal' might do the job Car spares shops don't stock repair pastes just so people can have a good old laugh you know....some of these pastes really are very good As long as the rotten part isn't part of the structural integrity of the car, then I don't see why it needs to be welded

Its not good when the bumper is removed ,but thankfully 65% is cosmetic and can be covered with a plate or filler .The other 35% mostly its a cut back to good metal and replace .. some of it I cant as yet see how I am going to get to it with out dropping the back arms and removing the petrol tank .But I will replace with good metal every thing I can get to ,and make it stronger and better than before ....david

Contacted my FMD today ,rear panels are available .I was shocked that they can still get them .The price is high ,almost 200 pounds for the rear panels not including VAT.While I am at it I will replace the rear cross member then I hope there will be no welding work for at least another 3 years or more . I did think long and hard about it first ,the wife thinks I am crazy spending even more money on the scorpio . I think a grand spent now will keep her on the road for another 3 to five years at least maybe longer .... or would you guys scrap it and buy a boring audi or something ...david
