Hi I was stuck in a traffic jam the other day and decided to recline my electric seat and chill-out until the traffic started moving again! When i tried to bring the backrest forward again, it would not move....but i can hear the motor spinning! It still works ok reclining, but obviously i don't want that! Any ideas appreciated as my back is killing me!

Try pulling the seat back up to a vertical position while operating the motor. Does sound as though things have either worn or the motor has worked loose. Its only a small electric motor and is easily seen if you take the seat out and the back off.

The problem with your seat is caused by a fault in the seat control box which is located under the drivers seat at the front If you raise the seat up as far as it can go access is easier. loosen two bolts and a couple of plugs and out it comes. i have had this problem twice in the last 3 years and i had to get control box out of a scrapyard as Ford dealers do not have them. The noise you can hear is not the seat motor but a small air pump at the right hand side of the seat back about 8 inches from the bottom .i would recommend getting a spare if you can because they are getting harder to get by the day . I hope this helps you
