You can try flushing the matrix but sadly it sounds like the matrix could be blocked and the only real cure is to replace it. Unfortunately, when Ford designed the Scorpio, they seemed to have started with the heater matrix and built the rest of the car around it

.... Len have you tried resetting the doors/flaps of the heater/airco system? After a while they can become disoriented & stuck halfways and partially block the mix & airflow. Remember, the heater matrix is always full ON and included in the cooling system; the flaps/doors regulate the air temp and flow so... There is a drill on the website; I will look it up for you in a minute... it is applicable to models with the Semi Automatic Temperature Control - SATC option (also called Climate Control - CC): http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccreset.htm BTW what model/ year/options? HTH Ray

... just reset it according to here: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccreset.htm Procedure 1. Run the engine. 2. Turn the blower switch and the air distribution switch as far left as they will go. 3. Simultaneously press the buttons for "Recirculated Air" and "A/C" for about 10 seconds until the code"00" appears on the passenger side LCD. 4. Select code "50" using the passenger side temperature control switch. 5. Press the "Recirculated Air" button until the code "00" appears. 6. Simultaneously press the buttons for "Recirculated Air" and "A/C" for about 10 seconds until the code "00" appears on the passenger side LCD. After this step the initialisation process is complete and the adjustment is finished. There have been several TSB’s issued concerning the cc system. TSB 209/1995 talks of a fault code “03” continually flashing on the display indicating a faulty outside temperature sensor connected to a faulty ac module. *********** How's the heat output now? Have you heard the flaps/doors clicking and resetting? Sometimes the resetting cycle needs to be repeated... and suddenly the codes disappear. It is worth taking off the display panel (flips out with a thinbladed screwdriver over a piece of plastic to avoid scratching) and spraycleaning the two potentiometers. Replace the lightbulbs while at it! Since it also has a tiny air-sucking motor for the temp sensor in it it will collect dust over time. Works for me... Ray

heya lenny i know craig was having problems with the heater to, he tried the reset and the flushing, the matrix have a habit of falling apart inside and clogging the water ways its a dash out job to change it but the hardest bit is trying to get the water pipes back on! if your ever in the bham area with it again give craig a bell and i'll come over with the FDS and check the electrics of it

I’ve tried that as well as many other methods. They usually work for anything between a few days & six months before the bits of plastic bung the matrix up again. Let’s hope it lasts for you.
